I just finished reading a great article in
Real FD, a British magazine geared towards financial decision makers in the UK. The article discusses at length Government and private companies desire to shift to greener operations, and how document management services is the ideal solution to many of the issues they face. The article highlights particularly well the usefulness of a document
management program as a solution for cutting back on the need for printed documents in the modern office. I found this quote to be extremely poignant to what
GRM can offer businesses here in the United States:
"Document management systems are therefore the key to achieving carbon neutrality by 2012. These systems replace the printing-out, postage and manual filing of documents with electronic processes for document creation, delivery, authorisation, management and storage. By moving to electronic document management systems, organisations reduce paper-use and significantly cut CO2 emissions by eliminating toner cartridges whilst also reducing the need to print, photocopy and transport documents."
