GRM Virtualizes Server Infrastructure

GRM has instituted the next step in our company-wide green initiative - virtualization of their information management system. The data center of large corporations is one of the leading contributors to a company’s carbon footprint, and we have decided that virtualizing our server infrastructure is a crucial part of the transition to green.

Our green IT initiative involves streamlining their information management system to reduce waste and cut back on extraneous energy use. Virtualization of the company’s server infrastructure involves cutting back the amount of physical servers connected to their network. GRM has achieved this by transferring massive amounts of data to a web-based storage system. Traditional server-systems require massive amounts of energy to function, but the new virtualized system requires little to none.

The virtualization of GRM’s server infrastructure is only one part of our Green Initiative. Other steps being taken as part of the initiative include environmentally friendly data destruction, the introduction of 100 % recyclable on-site storage containers and the use of timed, energy-saving lighting in the GRM storage warehouses.
